The Indonesian government has officially expanded the list of countries eligible for its Visa-Free Visit (Bebas Visa Kunjungan/BVK) program. Under Minister of Immigration and Corrections Regulation (Permenimipas) No. 10 of 2026, six countries and administrative regions have been added to the visa-free entry list.
The latest policy signals Indonesia’s renewed efforts to broaden international travel access while continuing to take into account national security, reciprocity, and the potential benefits for the economy and tourism.
Permenimipas No. 10 of 2026 was signed by Minister of Immigration and Corrections Agus Andrianto on July 7, 2026, officially promulgated on July 9, 2026, and published in the 2026 State Gazette of the Republic of Indonesia No. 463.
Six New Visa-Free Entry Recipients
Under the new regulation, the following six countries, special administrative regions, and entities are now officially eligible for Indonesia’s Visa-Free Visit facility:
- Republic of Türkiye
- Federative Republic of Brazil
- Republic of Peru
- Republic of Kazakhstan
- Macao Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China
- Republic of Belarus
With this addition, nationals from these six jurisdictions may enter Indonesia under the Visa-Free Visit scheme in accordance with the applicable regulations.
The regulation states that the expansion of the visa-free list was based on the results of a joint evaluation and inter-ministerial coordination meetings involving agencies responsible for law, human rights, immigration, and corrections.
Visa-Free Status Is Granted Through Careful Evaluation
The government emphasized that Visa-Free Visit privileges are not granted automatically. A number of indicators are assessed before a country is included in the program.
These considerations include:
- The principles of reciprocity and mutual benefit
- National security
- Potential to boost the tourism sector
- Impact on the economy and investment
- Other considerations determined by the President
Through this approach, the government aims to increase the mobility of international tourists and business travelers without compromising Indonesia’s national interests.
Previous Regulation Revoked and Replaced
With the enactment of Permenimipas No. 10 of 2026, the government has officially revoked Permenimipas No. 10 of 2025.
The previous regulation had added three countries—Peru, Brazil, and Türkiye—to the Visa-Free Visit list. Under the latest regulation, those three countries remain on the list alongside three newly added jurisdictions, resulting in a comprehensive update of the eligible countries.
Number of Visa-Free Countries Begins to Increase Again
According to data from the Directorate General of Immigration, Indonesia’s Visa-Free Visit policy covered 156 countries in 2016. However, the list was reduced by 16 countries in 2025 following a policy review.
In 2026, the government added six more countries to the program.
This move reflects a more selective approach to implementing the visa-free policy, prioritizing economic, investment, and tourism benefits while maintaining national security considerations.
