BUTOLPOST – United States President Donald Trump stated his commitment to help ease ship traffic jams in the Strait of Hormuz after reaching a temporary ceasefire with Iran for two weeks.
In his statement on the Truth Social platform, Trump emphasized that the United States’ presence in the region aims to ensure that global trade routes return to normal.
“There will be a lot of positive action. A lot of money will be made. Iran can start the reconstruction process,” Trump said.
He also added that the US is ready to send various types of commodity supplies and will be around the Strait of Hormuz to ensure the smooth running of maritime activities.
This ceasefire was reached after Trump previously gave Iran a deadline to reopen this vital route and stop the escalation of the conflict. The agreement was announced on Tuesday (7/4) as a step to ease tensions that have increased in recent weeks.
Trump even called this momentum the beginning of the “Golden Age of the Middle East”, while signaling continued US involvement in maintaining regional stability.
Previously, the conflict had escalated since the joint attack by the United States and Israel on Iran at the end of February. The attack reportedly killed more than 1,400 people, including Iran’s then-Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei.
Iran then responded by launching drone and missile attacks on a number of targets in the region, including Israel and countries that are US military bases. In addition, Tehran restricted the movement of ships in the Strait of Hormuz, which is one of the most important oil distribution routes in the world.
With this ceasefire, global attention is now focused on the stability of energy supplies and the security of international shipping lanes which have been very dependent on this region.***
