PAKUAN MEDIA, KASHMIR – A number of areas in Kashmir reportedly held celebrations after the announcement of a ceasefire between the United States and Iran.
This moment was welcomed enthusiastically by some residents, especially in the Srinagar area and a number of other districts.
Based on local media reports, celebrations took place at various points such as Saidakadal, Shalimar, Zadibal, to Bemina and Lawaypora.
Residents were seen waving Iranian flags, setting off firecrackers and distributing the typical Kashmiri drink, kehwa, as a symbol of happiness.
In several areas such as Budgam, Baramulla and Pulwama, a similar situation is also visible. In fact, some residents openly call this ceasefire a victory for Iran.
“This is a victory for Iran. They have brought the US and Israel to their knees,” said one of the participants in the demonstration in Budgam.

The Old Solidarity That Comes Back Stronger
Before the ceasefire agreement was reached, the Kashmiri people were known to have shown support for Iran through massive fundraising. The assistance provided is not only in the form of money, but also other valuable items.
This emotional closeness is not without reason. Historically, Kashmir has had close ties with Iran, both in terms of culture, language and religion. In fact, this region is often nicknamed “Iran-e-Sagheer” or “little Iran”.
Call for Peace from Religious Figures
Kashmir’s leading religious figure, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, welcomed the ceasefire positively. He considered this step as proof that dialogue is more effective than armed conflict.
“This agreement shows that self-control and dialogue are the best paths to resolving the conflict,” he said.
Farooq also expressed appreciation for Iran’s resilience and leadership in facing pressure during the conflict.

Criticism from the Government
However, not all parties welcomed this development with optimism. The Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Omar Abdullah, actually questioned the concrete results of the conflict which has been going on for almost 39 days.
He assessed that there had been no significant achievements from the United States. One of the issues highlighted was the reopening of the world’s strategic energy route, namely the Strait of Hormuz, which according to him had already occurred even before the conflict escalated.
“What did the US actually achieve in this war?” he wrote in a statement on social media.
Between Euphoria and Reality
The celebrations in Kashmir reflect how global geopolitical dynamics can trigger emotional reactions in other regions with historical and cultural proximity.
However, behind this euphoria, big questions also arise regarding the real impact of the conflict and ceasefire itself, whether it really brings significant change, or is it just a temporary pause in tensions that are not yet completely over.***
