Indonesia’s Directorate General of Taxes (DGT) under the Ministry of Finance reported that tax revenue from the digital economy sector reached Rp54.71 trillion as of June 30, 2026. The largest contribution continued to come from Value Added Tax (VAT) collected on Electronic Commerce (PMSE) transactions.
The breakdown consists of Rp42.01 trillion from PMSE VAT, Rp2.09 trillion from cryptocurrency taxes, Rp5.1 trillion from fintech (peer-to-peer lending) taxes, and Rp5.51 trillion from taxes collected by third parties through the Government Procurement Information System (SIPP Tax).
“We hope that the continued improvement in compliance among digital business operators will support state revenue while creating a fair tax system for all business models, both conventional and digital,” said Inge Diana Rismawanti, Director of Counseling, Services, and Public Relations at the Directorate General of Taxes, in a statement issued in Jakarta on Thursday, July 23, 2026.
Inge said that, as of the end of June 2026, the DGT had appointed 271 PMSE business entities as VAT collectors for electronic commerce transactions.
In June 2026, the DGT also updated the list of PMSE VAT collectors by revising the registration details of one collector, Lemon Squeezy LLC.
As of June 30, 2026, a total of 236 PMSE operators had collected and remitted PMSE VAT amounting to Rp42.01 trillion.
The total consists of Rp731.4 billion in 2020, Rp3.9 trillion in 2021, Rp5.51 trillion in 2022, Rp6.76 trillion in 2023, Rp8.44 trillion in 2024, Rp10.32 trillion in 2025, and Rp6.34 trillion in 2026.
In addition to PMSE, digital economy tax revenue also came from cryptocurrency transactions.
As of June 2026, cryptocurrency tax revenue had reached Rp2.09 trillion.
The total comprised Rp246.54 billion in 2022, Rp220.89 billion in 2023, Rp620.38 billion in 2024, Rp796.74 billion in 2025, and Rp205 billion in 2026.
“The cryptocurrency tax revenue consists of Article 22 Income Tax amounting to Rp1.21 trillion and Domestic Value Added Tax totaling Rp881.82 billion,” she said.
Meanwhile, fintech tax revenue had reached Rp5.1 trillion as of June 2026.
The revenue consisted of Rp446.39 billion in 2022, Rp1.11 trillion in 2023, Rp1.48 trillion in 2024, Rp1.37 trillion in 2025, and Rp695.84 billion in 2026.
The fintech tax revenue comprised Article 23 Income Tax on loan interest received by domestic taxpayers and permanent establishments totaling Rp1.42 trillion, Article 26 Income Tax on loan interest received by foreign taxpayers amounting to Rp727.99 billion, and Domestic Value Added Tax totaling Rp2.95 trillion.
Inge added that other digital economy tax revenue came from the Government Procurement Information System Tax (SIPP Tax), which had reached Rp5.51 trillion as of June 2026.
The total consisted of Rp402.38 billion in 2022, Rp1.12 trillion in 2023, Rp1.33 trillion in 2024, Rp1.23 trillion in 2025, and Rp1.44 trillion in 2026.
“SIPP Tax revenue consists of Article 22 Income Tax amounting to Rp402.52 billion and Value Added Tax totaling Rp5.11 trillion,” she concluded.***
