Garut PR- On the brink of a deadline that has the potential to change the course of history, tensions in the Middle East are entering their most fragile, and perhaps most decisive, phase. As Donald Trump’s ultimatum to Iran approaches its deadline, an unexpected step comes from Pakistan: lightning-fast diplomacy that tries to halt the march towards open conflict.

Al Jazeera’s report describes the current situation as a critical point, where war rhetoric is increasingly sharp, even touching on the narrative of “the destruction of civilization”, while peace efforts are actually a race against time.

Pakistan’s initiative came almost at the last second. Although full details have not yet been published, a number of key points are starting to emerge. Islamabad is said to have asked Washington to postpone the deadline for two weeks, opening up space for negotiations that have so far been deadlocked.

On the other hand, Iran is being encouraged to show goodwill by keeping open access to the Strait of Hormuz, a vital route for world energy trade. In support of this step, Pakistan also proposed a temporary ceasefire during this period.

This step is not just ordinary diplomacy. This is an emergency effort to prevent the spark of conflict from turning into a major explosion.

The reaction from Washington and Tehran was still cautious, but did not completely close the door. The White House confirmed that the proposal had been received by Trump and was being reviewed.

Meanwhile, Tehran gave a relatively softer signal. The Iranian government is said to view the two-week ceasefire option with a “positive” approach, a significant change in tone amid previous harsh rhetoric.

Key Figures Behind the Scenes

Behind the scenes, JD Vance’s role is in the spotlight. Together with Marco Rubio, he is said to be actively pushing for diplomacy.

Vance even expressed optimism that Iran could respond before the deadline expired. His statement also contained an implicit message: Washington still has other options if diplomacy fails.

Interestingly, a number of analysts consider Iran to be more open to Vance than other figures in the US government. His relatively cautious attitude towards conflict is thought to provide space for trust that previously did not exist.

Despite gaps in dialogue, the chances of an agreement are far from certain. The difference in positions between the two parties remains wide.

Iran, for example, put forward a number of tough conditions: a total cessation of attacks, guarantees of no further aggression, and compensation for damage. For Washington, this demand is not a simple matter.
