BUTOLPOST – Negotiation efforts between Iran and the United States are again shrouded in uncertainty. Iran’s main delegation and its supporting team have reportedly not yet left for Islamabad, Pakistan, to take part in the next round of negotiations scheduled to take place on April 22.

A report by Iran’s state television station, IRIB, on Tuesday stated that until now there had been no sign of the delegation’s departure. This condition has given rise to speculation that the diplomatic process between the two countries is in a critical situation.

Previously, international media CNN reported that Washington and Tehran planned to sit down again at the negotiating table to find a solution to the conflict that continues to escalate.

Tensions increased sharply after on February 28 the United States and Israel launched attacks on a number of points in Iran, including the capital Tehran. The attack reportedly caused significant damage and civilian casualties.

Although the two sides agreed to a two-week ceasefire on April 7, negotiations held in Islamabad ended without a meaningful agreement.

The situation became even more complicated after the United States was said to have initiated a blockade of Iranian ports, a step which was seen as muddying the situation and hampering diplomatic channels.

Until now there has been no official announcement regarding the resumption of military action. However, various international parties continue to try to encourage the creation of a new round of negotiations to prevent a wider escalation of the conflict.***
