SABACIREBON – The United States expressed its willingness to lift various sanctions on Iran as part of a draft final agreement being negotiated by the two countries.
This information was revealed in a memorandum of understanding (MoU) document published by the Iranian news agency, IRNA, on Wednesday (17/6).
Based on the contents of the document, Washington is committed to ending all forms of sanctions against Tehran within a time period that will be mutually agreed upon and included in the final agreement between the two countries.

The lifting of sanctions includes various restrictions that have been imposed through the United Nations Security Council (UN), the Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), as well as unilateral sanctions from the United States, both primary and secondary.
The deal is part of diplomatic efforts to resolve a long-standing dispute over Iran’s nuclear program that has for years been a source of tension between Tehran and Washington.
In the same document, Iran reiterated its commitment not to produce or acquire nuclear weapons. This statement is one of the important points in the framework of understanding being discussed by the two countries.

In addition, Iran and the United States also agreed to resolve various issues related to Iranian nuclear material under the direct supervision of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), as the institution tasked with monitoring countries’ compliance with international nuclear obligations.
Previously, Tehran stated that negotiations towards a final agreement were targeted to be completed within 60 days after the signing of the MoU. The agreement is expected to be the basis for a comprehensive resolution of the Iranian nuclear issue as well as paving the way for broader normalization of relations.
However, the document published by IRNA also provides room for both parties to extend the negotiation deadline if necessary. This provision is considered important to ensure that all technical and political aspects of the final agreement can be resolved thoroughly.
