BUTOLPOST – Tensions in the Arabian Gulf region are again making you nervous. Two ships belonging to PT Pertamina International Shipping (PIS), namely Pertamina Pride and Gamsunoro, are reportedly still stuck and unable to cross the Strait of Hormuz—a vital route for world energy distribution.

PIS Acting Corporate Secretary, Vega Pita, said that the situation in the field is still very dynamic. The company is now continuing to monitor developments while coordinating with various parties to ensure ships can pass safely.

“We continue to carry out intensive coordination with the relevant ministries and authorities, while preparing a safe shipping plan,” he said.

No joke, the safety of the crew is the main priority. PIS also ensures that the safety of ships and their cargo is maintained amidst situations that are not yet completely conducive.

On the other hand, signals from Iran actually increase tensions. Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated that the Strait of Hormuz is now under the strict control of their armed forces. This statement comes amidst heated relations with the United States, which is still enforcing a blockade of Iranian ports.

The IRGC even emphasized that conditions on this strategic route will not change until freedom of navigation to and from Iran is completely restored.

This situation has put the Strait of Hormuz—which has long been known as the “lifeblood” of world oil trade—again in the global spotlight. Even the slightest disturbance can impact energy supplies and international oil prices.

PIS hopes that conditions will soon subside so that Pertamina Pride and Gamsunoro can continue sailing without obstacles.

But one thing is certain: when the Strait of Hormuz heats up, the world is on alert.
