BUTOLPOST Tensions at the Al-Aqsa Mosque are again at their peak. On Tuesday, dozens of Israeli settlers reportedly broke into the holy mosque complex under heavy guard from Israeli occupation forces.
Based on information from a number of local sources, the settlers not only entered the mosque grounds, but also raised Israeli flags and performed Talmudic rituals in an area that has long been a symbol of purity for Muslims around the world.
This action is considered a serious provocation that has the potential to worsen the situation in Jerusalem, an area that has been a sensitive point for the long-standing conflict.
Furthermore, groups affiliated with the “Temple Mount” movement are reportedly actively spreading calls to mobilize more settlers to carry out similar actions.
The call even invited the mass raising of Israeli flags in the mosque courtyard next Wednesday, to coincide with the commemoration of Israel’s “Independence Day”.
The Jerusalem Provincial Government strongly condemned the incident. They viewed this action as a direct attack on the sanctity of the Al-Aqsa Mosque, as well as a systematic attempt to impose a new reality based on Jewish interests in the area.
