THE MIND OF THE PEOPLE – The President of the United States, Donald Trump, and Iran reportedly reached a two-week temporary ceasefire agreement on Tuesday evening, April 7, 2026, after a last-minute diplomatic intervention mediated by Pakistan, as reported by The Guardian.
The deal cancels Trump’s previous ultimatum demanding that Iran surrender or face massive attacks on the country’s critical infrastructure.
Trump’s announcement came less than two hours before his self-imposed deadline to launch attacks on power plants and bridges in Iran. This threat previously drew warnings from legal experts and a number of world leaders because it had the potential to violate international law.

10 Point Proposal
In his statement on Truth Social, Trump said the ceasefire was two-way and depended on Iran’s willingness to immediately reopen the Strait of Hormuz safely. He also stated that within the two-week period, the two countries would negotiate based on the 10-point proposal submitted by Tehran to reach a long-term peace agreement.
Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi confirmed that Tehran accepted the deal. In his statement, he said that Iran would ensure that shipping routes through the Strait of Hormuz could be passed safely again through coordination with the Iranian armed forces.
