FAKE MEDIA – President of the United States Donald Trump stated that the ceasefire agreement with Iran also represented the interests of the Gulf countries. He called this step an effort to bring resolution to the long-term conflict in the region closer.
In his statement, Trump claimed to be speaking on behalf of the Gulf countries which had been pushing for a resolution of the conflict through diplomatic channels. Countries in the region are also said to want to be involved in the entire process leading to a ceasefire.
The Strait of Hormuz is of primary importance
Trump stated that during the 15-day ceasefire period, Iran had agreed to a full opening Strait of Hormuz safely. This route is a vital route for global energy distribution, especially for the Gulf countries.
However, the statement from Iran’s Supreme National Security Council emphasized that Iran would maintain control of the Strait of Hormuz. This difference in views has the potential to become a major issue in negotiations with member countries Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).
GCC countries have previously emphasized that the Strait of Hormuz is a vital lifeline for their economies and cannot accept changes to its status.
Iran Proposes Ceasefire Conditions
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that Iran would agree to a ceasefire on condition that attacks on its country stopped.
