JURNALACEH.COM – The United Nations (UN) officially released the results of an initial investigation regarding the incident that claimed the lives of three TNI soldiers while carrying out a peace mission (UNIFIL) in Lebanon.
Based on the report, the soldiers died as a result of tank projectile attacks and homemade bomb explosions in different locations.
Spokesperson for the UN Secretary General, Stephane Dujarric, explained that the first incident occurred on March 29 2026. Based on analysis of projectile fragments at PBB position 7-1, strong evidence was found of a heavy weapons attack.
”The projectile was a 120 mm caliber main tank shell fired by a Merkava tank belonging to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) from the east towards Ett Taibe,” said Dujarric in a press conference, Wednesday 08 April 2026.
This incident resulted in the death of Praka (Posthumous) Farizal Rhomadhon after a projectile exploded near Adchit al-Qusayr Village, South Lebanon.
Meanwhile, in a separate incident on March 30 2026, two other soldiers died as a result of an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) explosion that hit a UNIFIL logistics convoy near Bani Hayyan.
Preliminary investigation results show that the explosion was triggered by a tripwire. “Given the location, characteristics of the explosion and the context of the situation, the IED was most likely installed by the Hezbollah group,” added Dujarric.
