CIREBON NEWS – However, Iran remains in control of the Strait of Hormuz and is now again closing the world’s most important shipping lane. The United States (US) is powerless to open the Strait of Hormuz, even though it has asked for help from NATO and China.
The US can only carry out a counter-blockade of all Iranian ports. The US method aims to paralyze Iran’s economy, as well as pressure Tehran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
In fact, the Strait of Hormuz, a vital waterway through which almost a third of the world’s oil and a fifth of LNG passes, has been de facto closed since the beginning of the conflict in the Gulf Region.

Iran formalized the blockade on March 4, with the IRGC announcing that it would decide which ships could pass through the 34 km-wide strait.
In late March, the passage was opened to shipping from neutral countries willing to pay duties, but was closed again in April after the US imposed its own blockade on the strait.
America’s double blockade is President Donald Trump’s latest strategy to resolve the crisis. Within two weeks, Trump declared the strait open, pleading with “allies” NATO and China to help open it.

Trump threatened to unleash “hell” on Iran if it did not allow shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, before finally deciding to impose his own blockade on the strait on April 13.
Iran maintains that it is capable of exporting its oil through other means, and insists that the US must lift the blockade or be held responsible for the wider economic damage caused by the shutdown.
“We cannot limit Iran’s oil exports while expecting free security for others,” Iran’s First Vice President Mohammad Reza Aref wrote in X on April 19. “The choice is clear: a free oil market for all, or the risk of significant costs for everyone.”

Due to the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, the global energy market has been thrown into chaos. The delay in the spread of the Strait of Hormuz is the main obstacle. Meanwhile, oil and gas prices in a number of countries have experienced price spikes due to limited stocks.***
