KBB NEWS — Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto departed for Miangas Island, Talaud Islands Regency, North Sulawesi, Saturday (9/5), after attending the 48th ASEAN High Level Conference (Summit) in Cebu, Philippines.
Prabowo arrived at Miangas Island Airport at around 10.45 WITA wearing a beige safari shirt and blue hat. Prabowo’s presence was welcomed directly by Talaud Regent Welly Titah, Danrem 131/Santiago Brigadier General TNI Martin Susilo Martopo Turnip, and Talaud Police Chief AKBP Arie Sulistyo.
Prabowo was accompanied by Minister of Defense Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia, Minister of Communications and Digital Meutya Hafid, Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin, Minister of Public Works Dody Hanggodo, Deputy Commander of the TNI General Tandyo Budi Revita, and Chief of Staff of the Air Force (Kasau) Marshal TNI M. Tonny Harjono.
Upon arrival, Prabowo chatted with the officials present before continuing his working visit agenda. The public also seemed enthusiastic about welcoming the President’s arrival. They crowded the streets around the airport to greet Prabowo directly and record the moment via cellphone.
In Miangas, Prabowo will inspect health facilities on Miangas Island as well as hand over a number of aid to the local community.
Miangas Island is one of Indonesia’s outermost islands in the northernmost region of the country and is the border between Indonesia and the Philippines. This island has around 823 residents consisting of 232 heads of families (KK) with an area of approximately 3.5 square kilometers.
Previously, Prabowo attended the 48th ASEAN Summit which took place in the Philippines on 7-8 May 2026. In this series of state agendas, Prabowo used the domestically produced Maung tactical vehicle made by PT Pindad as an operational vehicle during the activities.
