United States Navy Blockade Seizes Iranian Ship, Tehran Calls This Action As Piracy

CIREBON NEWS – The maneuvers of the United States (US) Navy which carried out a blockade of Iranian ports caused the Mullah’s country to lose very significant income.

Tehran’s oil and gas exports have been disrupted since Washington implemented a blockade policy on Iranian tankers, starting April 13 2026. Even the US Navy did not hesitate to seize Iranian cargo ships and tankers in international waters.

As the two countries agreed to a ceasefire, a US Navy blockade strangled Tehran’s most important source of income. Iran’s crude oil exports fell to their lowest level in at least six years.

The blockade of Iranian ports is part of President Donald Trump’s efforts to pressure Tehran to agree to the terms of the peace deal. Tehran condemned the move as illegal and described the US seizure of ships around its ports as an act of piracy.

The US action came after Iran closed the Strait of Hormuz to ships from most countries following the start of US-Israel strikes on February 28. This narrow waterway is the Persian Gulf’s main route to the open ocean and usually carries about 20 percent of the world’s oil and gas supplies.

The disruption caused global energy prices to soar and severely restricted exports from key Gulf producers, including Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Iraq and the United Arab Emirates.

However, during this period, Iran was largely able to continue exporting its own oil. With fewer competitors able to move cargo through the strait, Iran’s exports remained strong through March and part of April, while higher oil prices boosted revenues.

New data now shows that has changed since the US began its naval blockade of Iranian ports.

Oil exports through the Strait of Hormuz account for about 80 percent of Iran’s total exports. The latest shipping data shows that the blockade has sharply reduced the amount of crude Iran can sell abroad, particularly to China, its biggest customer.

Analysts say the blockade is now starting to exact a high financial cost on Iran’s economy, raising questions about how long Iran can sustain the war.***
