Surprising news has emerged from the South Korean entertainment industry. Tzuyu, the youngest member of K-pop girl group TWICE, is reportedly set to end her partnership with JYP Entertainment.
Reports of the departure of the singer, whose full name is Chou Tzuyu, first surfaced through South Korean media outlet News1 on Tuesday, July 14, 2026.
However, the report emphasized that the Taiwanese singer will remain fully committed to her role as a member of TWICE alongside the group’s eight other members: Nayeon, Jeongyeon, Momo, Sana, Jihyo, Mina, Dahyun, and Chaeyoung.
Responding to the rapidly spreading rumors, JYP Entertainment promptly released an official statement to address public speculation.
“TWICE is currently in discussions regarding the renewal of their contracts. We will provide an update once everything has reached a final decision,” a JYP Entertainment representative told local media on Tuesday.
Fans Noticed Unusual Signs
Even before the report became public, ONCE, the official fandom of TWICE, had already noticed what they believed were unusual developments surrounding Tzuyu’s solo activities.
One of the most talked-about moments occurred when the singer, born on June 14, 1999, performed at the Kaohsiung Beer Rock Music Festival in Taiwan from July 3 to 5, 2026.
During the event, Tzuyu impressed audiences by performing “First Day,” a Mandarin-language hit by Singaporean diva Stefanie Sun. She also performed her solo songs as well as TWICE’s hit “What Is Love?”
However, fans noticed that Tzuyu completed all of her festival schedules without the presence or support of official staff from JYP Entertainment.
Many fans speculated that Tzuyu’s individual activities were no longer being managed by JYPE. The speculation grew stronger because the event was not promoted through the agency’s official social media accounts for TWICE.
Tzuyu’s Career with TWICE
Tzuyu first entered the South Korean music industry after passing an audition for JYP Entertainment in 2012.
She gained widespread recognition after competing in the survival program Sixteen in 2015, before officially debuting with TWICE in October 2015 through the group’s iconic debut song “Like Ooh-Ahh.”
Throughout nearly 11 years of her career, the 27-year-old singer has played a major role in many of the group’s biggest hits, including “Fancy,” “Feel Special,” and “I Can’t Stop Me.”
TWICE recently concluded their world tour, “This Is For,” with a three-day finale concert at KSPO Dome in Seoul.
In addition to her success with the group, Tzuyu also proved herself as a solo artist by making her solo debut in September 2024 with the release of “Runaway.”
For now, the future of Tzuyu’s contract with JYP Entertainment remains uncertain until the agency makes an official announcement.***
